The Bay star Matthew Ashford has been confirmed to return to drama series “Days of our Lives” next year in 2016. He was last seen as Jack Deveraux on the show on August 15, 2012, right before his character was killed off by the writers. Matthew may be returning to the show after such a long time, but this time he will only be sticking around briefly, and his role won’t be a contract one, but more like a recurring one. He is expected to start filming for the upcoming 5 episodes this week, and the episodes will air in spring 2016. For now, it will just be a brief role, but who knows in future, he might be offered a contract role.
Ever since Jack Deveraux’s death, his on screen wife Jennifer Horton (Played by Melissa Reeves) has been a mess. None of her relationships end up working out, and somewhere deep in her heart, she wishes her husband was still alive, because without him all she will ever be is incomplete and she is incomplete. Her husband Jack died while saving their daughter Abigail, after his death, the family have been going through a hard time, but they stayed strong. I’m looking forward to seeing how the writers are planning to write Jack back into the storyline after so many years. Will the character appear as a ghost just like Bo has after his death? Or will he actually turn out alive? Maybe he will be back as a ghost, because if he does return, then there’s no way, his family would let him leave, now that Jennifer and Jack are grandparents now.
Since leaving Days of our Lives, the 55 year old actor has starred on “The Bay” as Steve Jensen a lead role, and before that on “The Good Mother” and “Bad Blood…the Hunger”. Ashford may have agreed to return to the NBC soap opera, but sadly he has no plans of being on the show forever. As he’s busy with new projects and has long moved on from the show he last starred on years ago.
