Scott Turner Schofield who was formerly a woman has booked a recurring role on the CBS long running drama series “The Bold and The Beautiful”. This is the first time a transgender man has been given a role in the American soap opera. The actor will debut on May 8, 2015 as Maya’s mentor Nick.
Transgender actor who also happens to be a solo theater performer and a speaker is set to play the role of Nick, a mentor to Maya Avant’s character, according to New York Daily Times News. The contract role of Maya who was recently revealed as a transgender is played by Karla Mosley. Only few happen to know Maya’s secret and she’s planning to keep it that way. But we all know that a secret does not stay a secret for too long.
According to Scott: His character is Maya’s BFF and he comes from her world when she first moved to Los Angeles before she became famous. ‘They met in the trans community, and he’s the kinda friend who reminds her that she’s gorgeous and authentic the way she is.’ He then talked about the storyline, about the discrimination that transgender people face and how it felt like he was portraying himself.
Schofield whose birth name was KT Kilborn back then received a Tanne award in 2004 for Artistic Excellence. According per reports CBS had approached many transgender actors and personalities for the recurring role, but in the end performer Scott Turner Schofield was chosen to play Nick. The runner up was actress Candice Cayne among others. She is best known for starring in movies like Crazy Bitches, Meth Head and TV series Dirty Sexy Money.
