English footballer Rio Ferdinand lost his 34 year old beautiful wife Rebecca Ellison to breast cancer on Friday night. The professional footballer revealed in a statement which he released on his current club Queens Park Rangers’s website that she took her last breath at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
She was working as an accountant when he first laid his eyes on her.
The 36 year old Athlete has been married to his wife, Rebecca since 2009 when he was still signed to Manchester United. Together the couple have three children Lorenz (born in 2006), Tate (born in 2008) and Tia (born in 2011).
He released the following statement :- ‘My soul mate slipped away last night. Rebecca, my wonderful wife, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London,” he said.
“She was a fantastic loving mother to our three beautiful children. She will be missed as a wife, sister, aunt, daughter and granddaughter. She will live on in our memory, as a guide and inspiration.
“Myself, my parents Janice and Julian, along with Rebecca’s parents Lesley and Stephen, would like to thank our families, friends and my club colleagues who have rallied around in these desperate days, weeks and months.
“I would also like to express my gratitude for the dedication and expertise of the staff led by Professors Johnstone and Clarke at the Royal Marsden. Their valiant efforts to prolong Rebecca’s all-too-short life will not be forgotten.”
“Our grief, as a family, is total. We would appreciate being allowed to mourn privately.”
The star received many condolences from his loved ones and fans. One of the most difficult things in this world is to lose a loved one and when one loses a loved one, their world can never be the same for them. It is really heartbreaking, and I cannot even imagine what her family must be going through right now.
Rio Fernand began his football career by playing for the youth “West Ham United” from 1996 to 2000, and then continued his senior career with the same team from 1996 up to 2000. He then played for Bournemouth on loan for a year. (1996-1997). After that he played for Leeds United from 2002-2004, followed by Manchester United from 2002 – 2014. He is currently playing for English football club Queens Park Rangers F.C. since 2014 after signing a one year contract with the premiere league club. In October 2014, he stopped by the The Jonathan Ross Show and confirmed during the interview that he would be retiring at the end of the season, admitting he’s not afraid of retiring, he’s actually looking forward to it as he can see a good thing happening ahead.
