Former Star of The Carrie Diaries is keeping busy with a new project called “The Shannara Chronicles”. On December 8, 2014 it was declared that Austin Butler had joined the cast of MTV’s new series The Shannara Chronicles in the lead role of Wil Ohmsford, who is a half elf, when he learns that he is the only remaining member of the shannara family, he goes on a mission to find someone named Druid who holds a key to his future.
The new fantasy series that was ordered for 10 episodes by MTV is based on Terry Brooks’ book series which is directed by Jonathan Liebesmen, written by Al Gough and Miles Millar and produced by Sonar Entertainment. The shooting is said to have begun on Jan. 19, 2015 and will go on until April 19, 2015 in New Zealand. The movie also stars Poppy Drayton, Brooke Williams and James Remar. The MTV new series will commence with the second book of “The Elfstones of Shannara.”
The young star who had lost his mother, Lori Butler on September 11, 2014 was said to have been in the difficult time after losing his mother. Butler then went on to star in a recurring role of Chase on the third season of Arrow where he appeared from 2014-2015 . He had also previously played the role of Wilke on Switched at Birth from 2011-2012. He lastly appeared in the newly released film “The Intruders” as Noah Henry, and has another movie Yoga Hosers in the post-production stage.
